Tech, Ethics, Privacy —In the Classroom

Technology is evolving quickly in this day in age. Kids at a young age learn and use technology, sometimes better than the adults that have given them access. Here's the thing... we have to be very careful in terms of our technology use. As parents, we want to protect our children as much as possible - part of that, is finding ways to shield the kids from certain sites and social media outlets.Ā

Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Leslie Gruis. She believes educators have a powerful role to play in shaping not just what students know, but how they understand their rights, their digital footprint, and the systems around them. Her goal is to help other educators see that conversations about technology, ethics, and even democracy belong in the classroom—and that they can be approachable, age-appropriate, and empowering.

Of course, we have to evolve with our times but we also have to understand the dangers that come with being in the world of technology on a consistent basis.Ā

Do you believe that technology should be used in the classroom? Do you believe that there should be a mix of technology and hands-on learning?

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Send me a DM on Instagram @coachforteachers.
